Wedding & engagement photography · Minneapolis
I'm Maxwell, a Minneapolis wedding photographer who's part planner, part hype man and fully in your corner. You enjoy your day. I'll make sure you can relive it.
Hello
I photograph weddings and engagements across the Twin Cities and the rest of Minnesota. I help you plan a timeline that works, keep the day moving, and deliver photos that look like the two of you.

Is this you?
Working with me
A few weeks before your wedding, we sit down with your schedule and make it work: how long family photos really take, who needs to be in them, and when the light is best. When the plan is right, the whole day feels easier.
Almost nobody knows what to do with their hands. That's my job. I'll put you in good light, give you something to do together, and let the real moments happen on their own.
Tell me who matters most. Grandparents, the friend who flew in, the flower girl. I'll make sure they end up in your photos, and a helper from each family keeps group shots quick so you can get back to the party.
I edit every photo myself, so skin looks like skin, white dresses stay white, and your gallery feels consistent from start to finish. No one-click filters that'll look dated in five years.
How it works
Tell me your date and a little about the two of you. We'll hop on a quick call and see if we click.
Sign the contract, pay the retainer, and your day is officially on my calendar.
An easy hour together somewhere you love. By the end, the camera won't feel weird anymore.
A few weeks out, we go over your timeline, family list and rain plan, so nothing catches you off guard.
A sneak peek within a few days. Your full gallery in about six weeks, ready to share with everyone.
A wedding day with me
Couples ask me all the time how many hours they need. For most weddings, 8 hours covers it, from the last few buttons to the first songs on the dance floor. Here's what a day with a 4:30 ceremony usually looks like. Yours gets built around your schedule.
Planning a long day, two locations or a late-night send-off? The 16-hour Full Day has you covered.
I start with the little things: rings, shoes, invitations, flowers. Then the good stuff, like buttons, veils and a parent seeing you dressed for the first time.
If you're doing a first look, we'll find a quiet spot for it. Then portraits, while hair and makeup are still perfect.
A few classic group shots, a few goofy ones, and you're done in about 20 minutes.
Go eat something and hide from your guests. I'll photograph the ceremony and reception spaces before anyone walks in.
The walk down the aisle, the vows, the front row trying not to cry, the kiss and the walk back out.
We run straight through your list with a helper calling names. Most families are wrapped up in 20 to 30 minutes.
I grab candids of your guests while you two sneak a few minutes alone.
Your grand entrance, the speeches and everyone's faces during them.
Ten quiet minutes outside in the best light of the day. These tend to be the ones that end up framed.
First dance, parent dances, cake and a dance floor that fills up fast. Coverage wraps around 8:30.

Engagement sessions
We spend an easy hour together, you get used to the camera and to me, and by the wedding day we already know each other. No awkward first meeting at the altar. Plus, you walk away with photos for your save-the-dates, your wedding website and your walls.
Somewhere that means something to you, or just somewhere pretty with good light and room to wander. A park, a lake, your neighborhood, the coffee shop from your first date. Not sure? I've got ideas.
Whatever you feel most like yourselves in. Pick colors that work together without matching, skip big logos and busy patterns, and bring a second outfit if you want a different look.
Planning guide
The little decisions I'll help you think through, so your photos turn out the way you're picturing them.
Seeing each other before the ceremony gives you a quiet moment together and gets portraits done early, so you can actually enjoy cocktail hour. Waiting for the aisle keeps the classic reveal. There's no wrong answer. It just changes how the afternoon runs, and I'll plan around whichever you pick.
This is where most timelines fall apart, usually because an uncle wandered off to the bar. Figure on about two minutes per group, pick a helper from each side who knows everyone, and ask family to stick around right after the ceremony. We'll build the list together.
The softest, warmest light shows up in the hour before sunset. Around here, that's about 9 pm in June and closer to 6 pm by late October. Save ten minutes for it and you'll get the photos that end up on your wall.
Ask guests to put their phones away during the ceremony and your aisle photos will show faces instead of screens. A quick announcement from your officiant or a sign at the entrance does the trick.
Pick a room with big windows and clear one corner of bags and clutter. Have your details ready when I get there: rings, invitation, shoes, jewelry, perfume, anything with a story behind it.
It's Minnesota, so plan for anything. Pick an indoor or covered backup spot and grab a few clear umbrellas. Honestly, rain and snow can make some of the prettiest photos of the day.

About
I'm a wedding and engagement photographer based in Minneapolis, and honestly, I just love people. The laughs, the nerves, the hugs that last a little too long. That's what I'm there for. The best photos happen when you forget I'm around, so my job is to make that easy.
On your wedding day, I'm the calm one. I show up early, keep the schedule moving without making it feel like a schedule, and make sure nobody on your list gets missed. You focus on each other. I've got the rest.
Maxwell
Most couples book 9 to 14 months out, especially for summer and fall Saturdays. If your date is sooner, reach out anyway. It might still be open.
Yes! I'm based in Minneapolis and shoot all over the Twin Cities and the rest of Minnesota. If your wedding is more than an hour from the metro, I'll quote travel up front so there are no surprises.
Every photo worth keeping, and I edit each one myself. For a full wedding day, that's usually several hundred.
You'll get a sneak peek within a few days, and your full online gallery in about six weeks.
Totally normal. Most people feel that way. I'll tell you exactly where to stand and what to do, keep it quick, and give you something to do together so it never feels stiff. Your engagement session is the perfect warm-up.
A signed contract and a retainer lock in your date. The rest is due shortly before the wedding.
Yes. Every gallery comes with a print release, so you can print anywhere and share them with whoever you want.
If getting ready, the ceremony and the reception are all close together, 8 hours usually covers everything. Go with the Full Day if you're moving between locations, want your whole morning covered, or your party runs late and you want the send-off.
We head to the backup spot we picked ahead of time and make the most of it. Some of the best wedding photos happen under an umbrella or in falling snow.
Definitely. I check in with your DJ or coordinator before the reception so I'm ready for entrances, toasts and dances, and I share the photo timeline with your planner so we're all on the same page.
On longer days, a vendor meal is always appreciated. I'll eat when your guests eat, so I'm back up before the toasts start.
